• BIRD FLU : Preventive measures in La Palmyre zoo |

Vaccination against bird flu started in La Palmyre zoo for 630 birds with injections of H5N2 vaccine (virus close from H5N1). The campain started with White Storks, Black Crowned-Cranes, Scarlet Ibis, Jackass Penguins, Pelicans and Hornbills. All birds will be vaccinated. After vaccination, birds are put in containment places for 8 or 10 days, time for the vaccine to take effect. Five weeks later, they will receive booster shot. Another campain could happen if bird flu situation get worse.
