They are fighting and dying in Iraq - just as it is going on in every major U.S. conflict since WWI. Yet, the 10,000 Latino soldiers from the U.S. territory of Puerto Rico are barred from voting in U.S. elections. Along side with them are over 36,000 non-U.S. citizens enlisted in the American military, and the majority of them are Hispanic immigrants from Mexico and Central America. Drawn to the United States and into military service for the hope of a better life, many now find themselves bearing the increasingly grim cost of war abroad
