Dina, Liza, Laziza, Soraya, Camilla are belly dancers stars in Egypt. For the ocasion of the 4th largest oriental dance festival, organised by Raquia Hassan (a former belly dancer star, reconverted on teacher), almost 3 000 enthusiasts have came to attend the training and shows of their masters. Japaneses, Koreans, Europeans, Latinos have taken, the time of a week, the way of the Mena House Hotel (gorgeous 5 stars hotel located on the road of pyramids in Cairo) so as to learn a few more dancing step and to come back in their country with the enrichment of that oriental dancing culture that the government used to call "dances' variety". I took the opportunity of that festival to take pictures of those dancers on their stage, also sometimes within their private life, at hers in Cairo, where some stranger women, for the love of dancing, have came to settle despite the constricting morals against westerners and also in spite of the law that threatens her, yet one year ago, into expulsion so as to favour working for the local dancers. Firstly, I was looking forward to show the dancers on stage, with bright and traditional scenery, surrounded or not with the orchestra and the singer that come along with.
